Internal Communication:

Deep experience creating communications programs to support organizations and values and cascading them via myriad mediums, including: email, internal news portals / intranet, video, print collateral, podcasts, meetings/town halls and events.

Notable Project: At ASU I developed a new internal channel for communication: a weekly podcast featuring research. I also created, launched, analyzed and optimized school newsletter with a mixed audience (internal/external) that resulted in above average industry open rate averaging 28.95% (average for education-related newsletters is ~8.5%).

External Communication:

Design and activation of social media strategies, management of relationships with local and national  journalists (press releases, pitches, networking), authoring and promotion of mass communications via email blasts, publicize presence of organization at events, conferences, and speaking engagements, and represent the organization at industry/trade events/conferences.

Deliverables:

Anything that needed to be written, printed or spoken, I churned out – from executive quotes, bios, media alerts, press kits and releases, talking points, backgrounders, annual reports and video scripts, to white papers, look books, marketing plans, and sales decks, pitches, and proposals. Developed collateral materials, presentations and tours to facilitate strategic relationship building with major local aerospace industry leaders (Orbital, Honeywell).

Executive Communication:

Manage executive communication strategies that include ghost writing letters, Op-Eds, articles, speeches/scripts and presentations for senior management. Collaborate directly with C-level executives, providing strategic counsel on variety of high-level projects and stories. I encourage authentic communication (using stories and emotion, and finding a unique voice) to connect with employees, constituents, and customers. Ability to evaluate communication programs and vehicles and report on effectiveness to management and drive continuous improvement based on audience feedback and best practices. My former boss said in a LinkedIn review that she appreciated how I "automatically kept a list of yearly highlights so that when I needed it for a speech she had it all ready" and also that I arranged for her to meet with new news people elsewhere in the organization as soon as they were in place, so that we were always entirely in the loop.
